Halloween masks
The tradition of wearing Halloween
masks has been a part of the holiday for centuries. People of the old days would dress up as we do now. Some would
wear full costumes, while others would just wear face paint or masks in imitation of devilish spirits that would
come out for the day. Their belief was that if they could look less human, the ghosts would leave them
alone.
Today, there is an extremely wide variety of scary
masks available as they are the most common. These are of frightening things like Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula,
Demons, Skeletons, and George W. Bush. Most of the scary Halloween masks they make have a double that glows in the
dark. So, if you need to be spotted in a dark place, like streets to trick-or-treat on at night, that could come in
handy.
Another type of mask is the funny mask. These usually imitate
well-known icons of pop culture. Some people find masks of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and even some of the older
ones like Ronald Reagan. Then there are just silly ones, like those of cows, or tacos. However, if you do go with a
taco mask, it's advised that you try to smell the part as well.
Some people get quite creative during this time and go for
Halloween masks that are truly all their own. They could create a mask of a type of weather, like a hurricane or a
tornado, or they could make a hat out of aluminum foil that connects to an alien drawn on a piece of paper over
their face.
If you wanted to get more creative than that, you could try
fashioning a faux chest or box to go over your head. Though you will have to be willing to tolerate hearing wise
cracks about "thinking outside the box" if you decide to go with that. Or, if you want to be inventive but feel
lazy, you could scribble words on a blank piece of paper, cut little holes for your eyes, mouth, and nose, and go
dressed as a book.
Making your own mask is also advised if you don't like the thick feel of most Halloween masks, so making your
own out of paper and string could be an easier light weight alternative. Whatever you are this year, remember, this
is the day to be as weird, scary, and revealing as was socially unacceptable just the day before. It's only for one
day a year, so make the most of it.
